DeSantis Vetoes $35M Tampa Bay Rays Facility Following Team’s Anti-Gun Statement

On Friday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis vetoed $3.1 billion in spending earmarked as a possible spring training facility for the Tampa Bay Rays.

The Washington Examiner reports:

The Republican cited the need to protect the state “against what very well may be a Biden-induced recession” at the signing ceremony. The facility in question, in Pasco County, would have cost $35 million. The veto comes after the Rays published a call to end gun violence in the aftermath of the Texas and New York mass shootings, and a report from OutKick said it learned that the decision was indeed in response to the team “politicizing” the massacres.

“We all deserve to be safe — in schools, grocery stores, places of worship, our neighborhoods, houses and America. The most recent mass shootings in Buffalo and Uvalde have shaken us to the core. The Tampa Bay Rays are mourning these heartbreaking tragedies that took the lives of innocent children and adults,” the team said. “This cannot become normal. We cannot become numb. We cannot look the other way. We all know, if nothing changes, nothing changes.”

The team also donated $50,000 to a far-left gun violence prevention organization called Everytown for Gun Safety and announced a partnership with the organization to “amplify facts about gun violence in America.”

Also included in the veto list were $20 million for a pair of state-owned jets and $75 million for an environmental and oceanographic research and training facility at the University of South Florida’s St. Petersburg campus.

DeSantis is currently campaigning for another term as governor in the Sunshine State.

If the Rays team is getting involved in politics, the government certainly shouldn’t fund it. Let the liberals provide the money to support the team that supports their agenda.

Good for DeSantis! That dirtbag Murphy, and a similar bunch of Democrats just want to remove only a little of the right to keep and bear arms. Which is just like merely a little bit of pregnancy. And, anybody who wants to just go along with that idea is either crazy or stupid. Australia made the perfect illustration: they “bought back” and then grabbed people’s guns, and them when Covid came on the scene, were able to arrest, and send people to what equaled concentration camps, with very little pushback from the helpless, and hopeless population. Want more? Take a look at Canada, with his.majesty. Trudeau. “common sense”, gun safety, and all the other synonyms, are power grab, plain and simple.”we’re doing this to you for your own good!” Oh, yeah……

There is no other politician that takes assaults on our Constitutional rights seriously and acts accordingly when prompted by these assaults’ People have begged their representatives incessantly to act decisively against the enemies of our Constitution. More often than not these appeals fall on deaf ears.

All the while the MSM becomes the loudest advocate of every Marxist agenda regardless of source, and carries every last drop of their emotion and extremism without honest
investigation or questioning.

DeSantis is a believer. He knows what the nation is up against He needs no prodding or lobbying to do he right thing on behalf or the people. Then he acts decisively. Talk is cheap. Action is real, purposeful, and politically very expensive.

I live in the supposedly most Republican State in the Union, and we are filled with both awe and envy of governor DeSantis. No one in our Republican leadership comes even close to the recognition of what our nation is up against, let alone taking the action to deal with those who hate our country.

AW, JEEZ, HERE WE GO AGAIN……….It is NOT gun violence. For those who don’t quite understand English, a gun is a THING!!. THINGS are not alive, things cannot move themselves. Only PEOPLE can move themselves and perform acts of any kind. And that’s where the problem is, with PEOPLE who use guns for the wrong purpose. Fix the PEOPLE PROBLEM, and you’ll have no gun violence. Now, everybody try, try hard, to remember that.

And there is only one way to fix the PEOPLE PROBLEM, and His name is Jesus!
Police can arrest criminals, but only Jesus can change people’s “hearts”.
Go back and read the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. It does NOT prohibit all government entities from supporting or endorsing any form of religion, it prohibits Congress (and Congress alone) from regulating religious establishments (i.e. churches, synagogues, temples, schools, etc.).
