Fox News has hired a new lawyer as part of its legal team in its fight with Dominion Voting Systems, which is suing the cable news giant for defamation after it aired false claims about voter fraud following the 2020 election.

The Hill reports:

Fox has hired Dan Webb, a veteran defense attorney and high-profile lawyer, as part of its legal team as it moves to have the case brought by Dominion dismissed.

Webb is the former United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois and was the Special Counsel investigating the Iran-Contra scandal of the 1980s. More recently, he was appointed to serve as Special Counsel investigating how officials in Chicago handled a case involving actor Jussie Smollett.

Webb’s “vast experience in trial litigation will add depth to our legal team, ensuring the protection of the First Amendment and the fundamental right to a free press remain intact,” Fox said in a statement to The Hill on Wednesday.

Late last month, a Superior Court Judge in Delaware denied a motion from Fox Corp. to dismiss the suit, saying Dominion had sufficiently shown Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch, who own and operate Fox News’s parent company, might have knowingly allowed unproven claims about voter fraud to be aired on the channel.

Fox’s legal team has sought to have the case dismissed on First Amendment grounds. The network has argued many of the false claims about voter fraud aired by the network were made by guests on the channel.

They are a news outlet, they are supposed to report both sides, not just one like main stream media does.

As far as I know there has been no determination whether the voter fraud claims are false or not. New info coming out daily that puts into question the legitamacy of the 2020 elections.

Many news outlets report items later proven false.Media giants influence opinion. They are not actionable for so doing. The First Amendment protects unintentional liars. Hard to prove a liar knew better.

If Clinton supported Dominion did nothing wrong, why did they block forensic evaluations?

No “false claims about voter fraud following the 2020 election.” is not true. There is now substantial evidence that significant vote fraud did happen, and will continue to happen if something isn’t done to correct it. It has been proven unauthorized individuals had internet access to Dominion vote counting machines in several states, plus there is documented evidence of those machines changing votes.

F ox should admit there is a lot of evidence regarding Dominion voting machine irregularities in the last election instead of hiding behind guests comments.

Shoot just dump dominion voting machines and be done with it, there are enough states where Dominion was already banned before the 2020 election for the very same reason’s they got such a black eye in the 2020 election , they are too easy to manipulate, they are online, and they run piss-poor code that is easily hacked,….but then again what would I know I am a precinct elections clerk who has been doing it since before they tried to get approval in Texas,…. and enjoyed the screaming stomping fit they threw when they were told they were NOT good enough to be legal in Texas

Why keep allowing them to call them false statements. They have not been proven in court because the abundant evidence, as now shown in 2000 Mules film, has not been allowed in court. That alone is ridiculous. They can call them unproven if they wish, however I am sick and tired of them always saying “false” instead of unproven. They machines have been proven corruptible at the least, and evidence is in hand that shows they changed votes repeatedly. So, they have been proven neither false nor true, however if there is an actual trial, material evidence should be entered. My bet is they will pull a kangeroo court.

Fox controllers have no interest in the truth, they contribute to the lies about TRUMP and so much more, Sean Hannity, you should be ashamed of taking the money instead of delivering the truth, the 2020 election was stolen on a grand scale and Americans see right through your BS!!!!

Fox did not air false claims about voter fraud following the 2020 election. They aired just facts about how their machines were involved in the process in which thousands of votes suddenly switching from Trump to Biden.
