45th President Donald Trump announced that he will be going to northeast Ohio to campaign and support Republican Senate nominee JD Vance.

The announcement came in an email and said that the rally will be held on Sept. 17 in Youngstown, Ohio. Vance is running against Democrat opponent Tim Ryan who brands himself as a moderate Democrat.

Trump has endorsed Vance and current Ohio Governor Mike DeWine.

“Things are really starting to look good in Ohio for Republicans, probably because they’ve seen the alternative and the alternative is not good,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “I won Ohio twice in a landslide, and we may have to do it again!”

“With a heated Senate race where JD Vance is pulling ahead of a “RINO Democrat Tim Ryan who has tied himself to me rather than Biden, yet he’s voted for 100% of Biden’s destructive economic policies.”

Vance has faced some criticisms in the past for criticizing Trump back in 2016.

“I go back and forth between thinking Trump is a cynical asshole like Nixon who wouldn’t be that bad (and might even prove useful) or that he’s America’s Hitler,” Vance wrote in the past.  “How’s that for discouraging?”

Vance has since taken back his comments in a statement, according to Politico.

“Like a lot of people, I criticized Trump back in 2016,” Vance stated. “And I ask folks not to judge me based on what I said in 2016 because I’ve been very open that I did say those critical things, and I regret them, and I regret being wrong about the guy. I think he was a good president, I think he made a lot of good decisions for people, and I think he took a lot of flak.”
