As Polls In Georgia Close The Race Remains Tight

As polls in the Georgia Senate Runoff race come to a close at 7 pm EST, we wait on the final results. Voters who made it to the line and are waiting, when the polls close, will still be allowed to vote. Polls opened this morning at 7 am EST, though more than 1.8 million voters had already cast their ballots during the state’s early voting period that concluded Friday, December 2nd. In-person voting also reached a single-day record high Friday, when 392,953 ballots were cast according to the state’s election data.

This race between Democratic incumbent Senator Raphael Warnock and Republican challenger Herschel Walker has maintained tight, as in the general election on November 8th Warnock took the majority (49.5%) with only 1 point separating the two candidates. The results tonight are expected to remain tight, with only one coming out as Georgia’s senator.
