According to a new book detailing the Biden presidency, the executive pairing of Biden and Harris may be miserable for both parties. Multiple points of frustration are described through excerpt quotes published by Politico on the new book, “The Flight of His Life,” by Chris Whipple. One such interaction of Biden allegedly calling Harris “a work in progress.” The previews of the book leave many to speculate that if Biden runs for a second term Kamala Harris might not be his running mate.
The biggest instance the book previews showcase is on Harris’s official VP assignments. Through them, it is claimed that Harris had begged Biden to give her the voting rights assignment. Rather she received the border assignment, which her husband, second gentleman Douglas Emhoff, had complained about. Biden had allegedly heard about Emhoff’s complaints, which he then vented to friends about adding that he had been “annoyed” with Emhoff and that Harris was a “work in progress.”
The book’s author, Whipple, told Politico that the White House “gave him extensive access to Biden administration officials while writing the book.” However, after the quotes were released by Politico Tuesday, White House spokesperson Robyn Patterson declined to comment on the book’s claims. Patterson stated, “we don’t plan to engage in confirmations or denials when it comes to the specifics of those claims. The author did not give us a chance to verify the materials that are attributed here.”
