Trump Snubbed and Other Explosive Moments of the Speaker Vote

Mike Rogers LUNGES at Matt Gaetz

Following the 14th vote for Speaker of the House, Gaetz voted present and surprised McCarthy and his allies who thought they had finally managed to get the votes necessary to sweat in Kevin McCarthy as Speaker of the House. McCarthy then approaches Gaetz and Rep. Mike Rogers lunges at Gaetz before being restrained by Rep. Richard Hudson.

On Twitter following the altercation, Rogers said on Twitter:

“I regret that I briefly lost my temper on the House Floor Friday evening and appreciate Matt’s kind understanding.”

Matt Gaetz has accepted the apology from Rogers, saying, “He has my forgiveness.”
