Indication That Musk May Have Been Behind The Reinstatement Of Sen. Daine’s Account:
Following his unexpected banning, Sen. Steve Daines received a message saying:
“Thanks for reaching out about this. The account is frozen until the profile image is replaced. We don’t allow images of dead animals or blood in profile photos because we are unable to label them as NSFW and keep them from being seen by users who specifically don’t want to see graphic images, including minors. If it was a tweet, we could easily label it as NSFW or put a warning interstitial on it for users that have elected to be warned or not see content containing animal or human death/ blood/ gore.
Once the profile image is replaced, the account will be immediately accessible again.
Thanks and please let me know if you have any questions.

However, Twitter CEO Elon Musk would overrule the Twitter ban, and would go on to tweet, saying:
This is being fixed. Policy against showing blood in profile pic is being amended to “clearly showing blood without clicking on the profile pic”.
The intent is to avoid people being forced to see gruesome profile pics.

While the banning of Sen. Daines was strange, fortunately, Musk was fair and although the content could be a sensitive topic for some, it does not fall under the guidelines of “death/ blood/ gore,” which are guidelines put in place to avoid internet trolling which could lead to unsuspecting Twitter users seeing gruesome images on the platform. Of course, a typical hunting photo does not fall under these guidelines.

Musk would also go on to tweet:
Going forward, Twitter will be broadly accepting of different values, rather than trying to impose its own specific values on the world

On his newly reinstate Twitter account, Sen. Steve Daines tweeted:
I’m free! Thanks, @elonmusk. https://t.co/reDuCwf4Q2

Sen. Daines’ official response to Twitter CEO Elon Musk:
“I am grateful Elon Musk reached out to me to resolve this issue and am glad that he recognizes that free speech is a bedrock of our country, and acted quickly to reinstate my Twitter account after being made aware of its suspension. The initial ban over the profile photo of my wife and me after a successful Montana antelope hunt was disappointing given the fact that it is no different than photos Montanans share on social media every day. It’s our Montana way of life and we are proud of it. I am glad Elon Musk recognizes this. The rest of the country benefits from the acceptance of diverse thoughts and values, including Montana values.”
Since his suspension this morning for reasons many felt were unnecessary and strange, Sen. Daines has since regained access to his Twitter account.
Many are left wondering how a picture of Sen. Daines hunting triggered an unjust ban, and why things of this nature never happen to Democrats.
All was well with Elon Musk taking over Twitter, or was it?
Early this morning, the Twitter account for Senator Steve Daines of Montana was shut down for reasons you won’t believe. It’s insane. Senator Daines is the Chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC).
His Twitter was shut down because he posed for a photo with his wife, Cindy, and an antelope. That’s it. The antelope appears serene as Mr. and Mrs. Daines sit with it.
The Senator and Mrs. Daines are good shots. They frequently traverse Montana’s vast, open lands for wildlife viewing and hunting. Senator Daines is an avid vocalist in support of the second amendment and hunting rights.
Was Twitter scared that the Senator and his wife can hit a bullseye from a long range? Did Twitter worry more about the antelope than praising the man who will fight for our freedoms? Did the Twitter bots get confused and hit the wrong target?
Twitter needs to clarify their stance on what exactly they shut down and the reasons why. Senator Daines and the NRSC has Senators in their targets to retire of get fired. Perhaps Twitter needs to watch where they tread.
Censoring Senator and Mrs. Daines as they share their love of the great outdoors is a violation of our right to free speech.
