Former President Trump Receives Warm Welcome at UFC 287

Former President Donald Trump received cheers from the audience when he attended the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 287 event in Miami on Saturday. This was just days after he pleaded not guilty to criminal charges in New York.

Trump’s love for UFC is not unknown, and he has attended various events over the years. On this occasion, he sat beside rock star Kid Rock, former world heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson, and UFC President Dana White. When Trump stood up and waved, the crowd broke into chants of “U-S-A.”

“Let’s Go Brandon” Chant

Jorge Masvidal, a UFC star fighter who lost his fight and announced his retirement, gave a shout-out to Trump, calling him “the greatest president in the history of the world.” Masvidal’s words prompted another round of cheers from the audience.

Masvidal led a “Let’s Go Brandon” chant, which has become a popular rallying call against President Joe Biden. This chant has gained momentum after a video went viral in which an NBC Sports reporter claimed that the crowd was chanting “Let’s Go Brandon” when the crowd behind the interview was actually chanting  “F— Joe Biden.”

Trump’s Potential Presidential Campaign

In November 2022, Trump announced that he would be running for president again. If he wins the GOP nomination, he could be up for a rematch against Biden, who has said he intends to run for a second term but has yet to formally declare a bid.

Trump’s Legal Troubles

Trump faces legal troubles, including a 2020 election inquiry led by Georgia’s Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and a federal probe led by special counsel Jack Smith. In addition, he faces 34 felony counts of falsifying business records as part of what Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg alleged to be a “catch-and-kill” scheme to influence the 2016 election. Trump denies any wrongdoing and claims politically motivated prosecutors are targeting him.
