According to a poll by Morning Consult of 2,476 registered voters conducted on April 25-27, 2023, Donald Trump leads the National Republican Primary with 57%, followed by Ron DeSantis with 22%, and Mike Pence with 6%. The other candidates listed – Nikki Haley, Liz Cheney, Tim Scott, Vivek Ramaswamy, Greg Abbott, Kristi Noem, Glenn Youngkin, and Asa Hutchinson – each received 3% or less of the vote. Trump’s lead is significant, with a +35 margin over DeSantis.

One notable aspect is Trump’s favorability rating, with 79% of those surveyed expressing a positive view of him compared to DeSantis’ 73%. Moreover, Trump is making progress with independent voters when compared to Joe Biden. Furthermore, Trump is distancing himself from his competitors in the Republican Party and is highly likely to become their presidential nominee in 2024.

According to Breitbart:

Overall, 79 percent of potential GOP primary voters view Trump favorably, compared to 20 percent who have an unfavorable view.

DeSantis comes in second place in terms of favorability, as 73 percent have a favorable view of the governor. Another 13 percent have an unfavorable view, and six percent said they have never heard of him. Additionally, eight percent said they have heard of him but have no opinion on the political figure, who is widely expected to launch a presidential bid soon after offering only vague and cryptic responses to inquiries on his political future.

The survey, which continued to show Trump with a dominant lead in the primary, also found 36 percent of Republican voters stating that they have seen, read, or heard something “negative” about Trump recently. Nineteen percent said the same of DeSantis.

The survey follows President Joe Biden’s official 2024 presidential campaign launch, in which he attacked so-called “MAGA extremists” yet again, asserting they are “lining up to take on those bedrock freedoms.”

The Morning Consult poll results suggest that Donald Trump is still the clear front-runner in the National Republican Primary for the 2024 presidential election. His significant lead over Ron DeSantis, as well as his high favorability rating, indicates that he is likely to secure the party’s nomination. Meanwhile, DeSantis is gaining popularity, with a high favorability rating, and is considered a potential challenger to Trump’s dominance. With President Joe Biden officially launching his 2024 campaign, the stage is set for a highly contested and divisive presidential race, as both Trump and DeSantis are currently unable to separate themselves from what is believed to be another neck-in-neck race for President in 2024.
