E. Jean Carroll, who recently won $5 million in damages from former President Donald J. Trump, is now seeking an additional substantial amount in response to his insults on a CNN program after her sexual abuse and defamation case victory. Trump adamantly denied any involvement in sexual abuse or rape, dismissing Carroll’s account as a fabrication found in her book. He attributed the case to what he deemed as a political strategy employed by Democrats to tarnish his reputation, drawing comparisons to previous debunked investigations, including the Russia probe.

Carroll, who recently secured a $5 million damages award against Trump in a sexual abuse and defamation case, filed for additional damages in federal court. The jury in her civil case had previously found Trump liable for sexual abuse and defamation, resulting in an ordered payment of $2 million for abuse and $3 million for defamation. Trump’s legal team plans to oppose the motion, arguing against the need for further damages and viewing it as an attempt to disrupt the ongoing legal proceedings. Carroll’s latest filing seeks to revise her 2019 defamation lawsuit to incorporate the recent verdict and Trump’s subsequent statements on CNN.

During a CNN town hall, former President Donald J. Trump confidently denied the rape allegations made by Carroll, emphasizing that he was not found liable for such accusations. Trump questioned the credibility of Carroll’s story, pointing out its inconsistencies and lack of coherence. He highlighted the puzzling nature of the alleged scenario, where Carroll had to be informed during the court proceedings that the doors in the department store were actually locked, prompting her to alter her account and claim that Trump miraculously found an unlocked door in the bustling store. Trump further asserted that he would never engage in any inappropriate behavior, or, in Trump’s words, “hanky panky,” dismissing the notion of entering a department store dressing room for any sort of intimate encounter with a woman he had just met.

In response to Carroll’s claims, Trump issued a statement asserting his innocence and questioning her credibility. He reiterated that he had never met Carroll or engaged in the alleged misconduct, highlighting his denial of the accusations when they first surfaced. Trump characterized the case as part of a broader Democratic agenda to besmirch his character, comparing it to previous controversies that he believed were baseless and politically motivated. He also expressed frustration with the judge’s handling of the proceedings and criticized the perceived bias in the trial, saying:

“I don’t know E. Jean Carroll, I never met her or touched her (except on a celebrity line with her African American husband who she disgustingly called the “Ape,”), I wouldn’t want to know or touch her, I never abused her or raped her or took her to a dressing room 25 years ago in a crowded department store where the doors are LOCKED, she has no idea when, or did anything else to her, except deny her Fake, Made Up Story, that she wrote in a book. IT NEVER HAPPENED, IS A TOTAL SCAM, UNFAIR TRIAL!”

“Page 2: The Carroll case is part of the Democrats playbook to tarnish my name and person, much like the now fully debunked Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax, the 51 Intelligence Agents, FBI/Twitter Files, and so much more. It is being funded and tried by Democrat operatives, although this was denied by them, and when they got caught in the lie, the Clinton appointed judge would not let us use it in trial. Time will prove him to be highly partisan & very unfair. Where’s the dress she said she had?”

According to the New York Times:

E. Jean Carroll, who this month won $5 million in damages from former President Donald J. Trump, is now seeking a “very substantial” additional amount in response to his insults on a CNN program just a day after she won her sexual abuse and defamation case.

On May 10, Mr. Trump, who is seeking to regain the presidency, went on CNN and echoed his earlier denials, calling Ms. Carroll’s account “fake” and a “made-up story.” Despite a photograph showing them together, he claimed again that he had never met Ms. Carroll, 79, called her a “wack job” and said the civil trial was “a rigged deal.”

Mr. Trump continues to fight the jury’s decision. After the verdict, his lawyer Joseph Tacopina filed a notice of appeal.

Earlier this month, President Trump filed a motion to appeal the $5 million damages awarded to E. Jean Carroll in the defamation and sexual abuse case. This aligns with his previous statements expressing his intention to challenge the court’s decision. Trump maintains his innocence and seeks to dispute the verdict, citing a lack of corroborating witnesses and the absence of concrete evidence. He aims to pursue a more favorable outcome through the appeal process.

During a discussion about E. Jean Carroll’s credibility, Trump highlighted some of her controversial statements regarding sexuality. Carroll described rape as “most people think of rape as being sexy” and encouraged listeners to “think about the fantasies” during her appearance on Anderson Cooper’s talk show, offering a non-traditional perspective on the subject. Trump highlighted Carroll’s ownership of a cat named “vagina,” raising questions about her judgment and views. This has led to doubts regarding the reliability of her accusations against him and raised concerns about her perspective on sexuality.
