At a recent gathering, Former President Donald Trump expressed his satisfaction with the one-year anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Dobbs verdict. This ruling overturned the landmark Roe v. Wade decision, which had established the legality of abortion at the federal level.

During his speech at the Faith & Freedom Coalition’s annual conference, Trump received an enthusiastic response from the audience. He declared:

“We terminated Roe v. Wade,” Adding, “Every child born and unborn is a sacred gift from God.”

The Dobbs ruling effectively restored the power of individual states to decide the permissibility, prohibition, or limitations of abortion. Trump acknowledged his instrumental role in shaping this outcome by nominating Justices Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett during his presidency.

While Trump did not explicitly mention his plans for the 2024 election and whether he will endorse a nationwide ban on abortions at 15 weeks, he implied that the federal government has a responsibility to protect the sanctity of unborn life. He had previously stated during a CNN Town Hall event that negotiations would take place regarding abortion legislation, and that a 15-week ban remained a possibility.

Former President Donald Trump celebrated the Dobbs decision as it coincided with a 3% decrease in abortion rates since its implementation. This decline is viewed as a significant achievement in terms of saving lives. With the regulation of abortion now determined at the state level, there is potential for even more lives to be preserved. Despite the media attention surrounding this ruling, the 3% decrease aligns with the original goal of granting states the authority to determine their stance on abortion.
