Argentinian President Javier Milei To Join Trump At Presidential Inauguration

Argentinian President Javier Milei confirmed Tuesday that he plans to attend the upcoming inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump in Washington this January.

The news was first reported by Bloomberg, citing an Argentine government spokesperson. A spokesperson for Milei confirmed the news, according to CBS News. Milei recently echoed Trump’s  slogan and took to social media to show his support.

As preparations for the inauguration continue, Milei is slated to be the first confirmed world leader at the Jan. 20 ceremony, with others reportedly making arrangements, CBS News reported.

During his visit to the New York Stock Exchange on Thursday, where he rang the opening bell, Trump revealed that he is considering extending invitations to key figures for his inauguration, according to The Associated Press. Trump invited Chinese President Xi Jinping and other global leaders to his inauguration, but Xi has reportedly declined the invitation.

“And some people said, ‘Wow, that’s a little risky, isn’t it?’” Trump asked.

“And I said, ‘Maybe it is. We’ll see. We’ll see what happens.’ But we like to take little chances.”

Trump also revealed that he’s engaged with more than 100 world leaders since his electoral victory. He initially said he had not extended an invitation to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, but later amended, welcoming Zelenskyy’s potential attendance, CBS News reported.

No world leader has ever made an official visit to the U.S. for an inauguration since the records began in 1874, according to historical records from the State Department. Typically, foreign ambassadors and their spouses have represented their countries at these quadrennial ceremonies, CBS News said.

Members of Trump’s transition team did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
