GOP Former Officials Endorse Trump, Cheer His National Security Triumphs

Nearly 6 dozen former senior officials who served Republican presidents from Donald J. Trump back to Richard M. Nixon have issued an open letter endorsing President Trump’s reelection.

The group of 70 cites President Trump’s national security and foreign policy accomplishments as the key factors for their votes of confidence.

Our own Deroy Murdock, who advised the U.S. Department of Education on international-education programs during the Reagan administration is among those who helped add this statement to the general-election debate.

“A huge measure of President Donald J. Trump’s success in foreign affairs is how many things you no longer hear in the news,” said Trump Train News contributor Deroy Murdock, one of this statement’s signatories. “We used to hear about ISIS, every chilling day through much of Obama-Biden’s second term. Since President Trump totally erased 100 percent of the Islamic State caliphate, Isis, once again, is just an Egyptian goddess. Under Obama-Biden, we constantly heard about North Korean atomic-bomb and long-range missile tests and saw frightful saber-rattling from Kim Jong Un. Now, under President Trump’s policy of tighter sanctions and greater engagement, detonations have yielded dialogue, and the bluster from Pyongyang has simmered down to occasional mumbles.”

Murdock added: “And the illegal-alien caravans that poured across the southern frontier during the end of Obama-Biden’s misrule and the early days of President Trump’s tenure now have stopped. Instead, President Trump’s diplomacy with Mexico has led it to station soldiers on its side of the border, to send illegal aliens home and encourage them to fill out visa applications, just like those who come to America legally. And those who slip past the Mexican troops now face some 300 miles of solid-steel border wall. This has cut illegal border crossing from January through August, compared to 2019’s like period, by 63.4 percent.”

“These and numerous other examples demonstrate that President Trump’s bold international leadership is turning the migraines of the Obama-Biden years into things that now, mercifully, slide right off our brains,” Murdock concluded. “I can stand four more years of that!”

Other members of the team spearheading this effort are, KT McFarland, a former deputy national security adviser to Trump; Christopher Burnham, assistant secretary of State and Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations during George W. Bush’s presidency; and Charles Glazer, U.S. ambassador to El Salvador, also under Bush.

“Donald Trump has done more to advance America’s national security interests in four years than any president in decades. He defeated the Islamic State, crushed Iran’s terrorist network, tightened our southern border, made America energy independent, stood up to China for unfair trade and investment practices, prodded our European and Asian allies to contribute more toward our common defense, rebuilt the American military, and brokered historic peace agreements among Israel and the Sunni Gulf states,” McFarland said in a statement to TTN. “Four more years will let President Trump finish the job. A Biden presidency would return us to the same failed foreign policies of the past, appeasing our adversaries and dooming America to decline.”

“President Trump has, in less than four years, achieved a remarkable number of successes on behalf of our nation,” Christopher Burnham said in a statement to Fox News. “His opponents bristle at his methods, but the scoreboard speaks for itself. America is winning, and we want to keep winning — therefore, we urge our fellow Americans to vote for Donald Trump.”

Other big-name signatories are former New York Mayor and federal prosecutor Rudy Giuliani, former Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour, former U.S. Representative Allen West, John McCain’s former deputy press secretary John Deming, and Trump’s former Ambassador to Germany and Acting-Director of National Intelligence Richard Grennell.

The distinguished citizens highlighted several of President Trump’s national security triumphs including the sanctions placed on Iran, North Korea, China, and Russia; the peace deals among Bahrain, Israel, and the United Arab Emirates; and the drone strike that killed Iranian general and terror master Qassem Solemani.
