GOP Senators Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue of Georgia have joined Marco Rubio as the GOP Senator backing President Trump’s demand for $2000 stimulus payments to Americans.

Mitch McConnell just blocked a quick vote on the increase on Tuesday, which was passed by the house on Monday.

However, McConnell did signal a willingness to address numerous Trump requests, including the increased payments and Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act.

According to Fox News:

Georgia GOP incumbent Sens. Kelley Loeffler and David Perdue, who are fighting to keep their seats in special runoff elections next week, voiced support for $2,000 stimulus checks on Tuesday.

Their announcements put them squarely in President Trump’s corner as the Senate weighs a newly passed House measure that would raise coronavirus relief payments to most Americans from $600 to $2,000.

Asked on “Fox & Friends” on Tuesday if she would back Trump’s repeated calls for greater relief, Loeffler said she was “proud to do that.”

“The president has fought for our country from day one. He continues to fight for every single American. I’ve stood by the president 100 percent of the time,” she said. “I’m proud to do that and I’ve said absolutely we need to get relief to Americans now and I will support that.”

It is unclear how quickly McConnell will move in addressing President Trump’s requests or if it will happen before the New Year.
