Nobody can question Florida’s Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz’s loyalty to Trump. The staunch supporter said during an interview with podcast War Room: Pandemic that he would resign from Congress to help defend President Trump in his upcoming impeachment trial.

According to War Room: Pandemic:

Gaetz said it’s important to show how President Trump’s concerns about the presidential election were valid, and urged Republicans to go on offense since 45 Republicans are already on the record that the impeachment is unconstitutional. Stephen K. Bannon said it’s a “free play” to show the receipts on election fraud.

Gaetz said he and other populist Republicans inquired if they could represent President Trump in the senate trial but were turned down by the House Ethics Committee. When asked if he would resign his seat to argue the case, Gaetz did not hesitate.

“I would leave my House seat, I would leave my home,” Gaetz said if needed to defend the greatest president in modern history.

“I view this cancellation of the Trump presidency and the Trump movement as one of the biggest threats” to the constituents of Florida’s first district, Gaetz added. “I’m here to win, to win so much I get tired of it because that’s what I was promised.”
