Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensberger seems to be refuting his own claims that the 2020 election was “safe and secure” after Fulton County was unable to produce all ballot drop box records. Georgia was the center of scandal after a series of mishaps during the 2020 election led to multiple recounts and increased scrutiny.

However, Raffensberger had repeatedly said the election was extremely secure with no threat of widespread fraud. The elections official was often trading barbs with former President Trump, who repeatedly claimed the Georgia election was stolen due to widespread fraud after Joe Biden flipped the traditionally red state.

Months later, Raffensberger is walking back his original claim the Georgia 2020 election was among the most secure in history and is calling for an investigation.

On Monday, Raffensberger tweeted, “New revelations that Fulton County is unable to produce all ballot drop box transfer documents will be investigated thoroughly, as we have with other counties that failed to follow Georgia ruled and regulations regarding drop boxes. This cannot continue.”

In January, Raffensberger became Trump’s top enemy after he recorded a private phone call discussing Georgia’s election results and then shared it with Washington Post reporters. In the recording, Trump is overheard urging Raffensberger to “find” enough votes as he’s confident he won the state.

In the wake of the news, Trump said in a statement, “This is very big news. People are starting to see the light. Great for America!”
