Michigan GOP Leader Who Said Trump ‘Blew It’ in 2020 Resigns

Director of Michigan’s Republican Party and avid Trump critic, Jason Cabel Roe has officially resigned. Roe has faced backlash for weeks over remarks against President Trump and the 2020 election eventually leading to his resignation.

According to The Washington Examiner:

“I have resigned my position as executive director and the reasons will remain between me and Chairman [Ron] Weiser,” Roe said in an email to the Washington Examiner. “We’ve built an amazing team and I know they will be very successful in 2022. I look forward to helping any way I can.”

Roe, hired by his successor Chairman Ron Weiser to be the executive director of Michigan’s Republican Party, has been a frequent Trump critic, telling Politico in a November 2020 interview that Trump “retains a hold that is forcing party leaders to continue down the path of executing his fantasy of overturning the outcome — at their own expense.”

“Frankly, continuing to humor him merely excuses his role in this. The election wasn’t stolen. He blew it. Up until the final two weeks, he seemingly did everything possible to lose,” he continued. “Given how close it was, there is no one to blame but Trump.”

Trump even singled out the Michigan GOP for criticism regarding its handling of the 2020 results, saying last month that the state Senate’s election investigation that affirmed Biden’s victory amounted to a “cover-up.”

Trump sent out this statement criticizing the Michigan GOP.

“Hopefully, American Republican Patriots will primary the RINO State Senators in Michigan who refuse to properly look into the election irregularities and fraud, which took place in Detroit and much of the rest of Wayne County, in the 2020 Presidential Election. The challengers will have great and powerful MAGA support. They are now seeing the extent of what took place in the 2020 Presidential Election Scam. Watch Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and more!” Trump wrote from his Save America PAC.
