Ted Cruz Predicts GOP-Controlled Chamber May Move to Impeach Biden

Republican Senator Ted Cruz is predicting that President Biden may have a tumultuous second half of his presidential term if Republicans take back control of Congress. The Texas lawmaker predicted Republicans may file articles of impeachment against Biden if they take back Congress.

According to The Washington Examiner:

“I said at the time when we have a Democratic president and a Republican House, you can expect an impeachment proceeding,” Cruz said on his podcast, Verdict with Ted Cruzon Friday. “That’s not how impeachment is meant to work, but I think the Democrats crossed that line, and I think they’ll be enormous pressure on a Republican House to begin impeachment proceedings.”

Though Cruz is not in favor of normalizing impeachment, he does believe there are “potentially multiple grounds” to consider on the impeachment of Biden, with the most compelling being “the utter lawlessness of President Biden’s refusal to enforce the border.” Cruz said Biden has defied federal immigration laws and allowed “2 million people to come in here unimpeded.”

The Biden administration asked the Supreme Court to review its case seeking to end former President Donald Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” immigration policy on Wednesday amid a surge in migrants. A total of 1.7 million migrants were encountered at the southern border in fiscal year 2021, which ended in September, officials said.

Cruz, who is “very optimistic” about the Republicans’ chances in the midterm elections, said House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, a favorite to become speaker if Republicans retake the House, would be wise to spearhead investigations into Biden.

However, Cruz noted he was more anxious about Republican chances of taking back the Senate this year because Republicans have more vulnerable seats open as opposed to Democrats.
