“Where are all those who stated ‘Black Lives Matter?'” Mayor Eric Adams (D – New York City) asked Wednesday evening on NY1-TV. “Do an analysis of who was killed or shot last night. I was up all night speaking to my commanders in the Bronx, in Brooklyn. The victims were black,” Adams added.
Three New Yorkers were killed and another 13 were wounded in shootings in those two boroughs Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. “The lives of these black children that are dying every night matter,” Adams said. “We can’t be hypocrites.”
So long as those who kill blacks are not in law enforcement, especially white cops, then BLM couldn’t care less. They husband their rage for those rare instances when police officers (ideally white ones) kill unarmed black Americans. BLM and their comrades on the Left want Americans to believe that such police-involved deaths run into the hundreds annually, according to the Washington Post’s Fatal Force database. The grand total of unarmed blacks killed by cops in 2021 climbed all the way to six. That’s right: You could add up all of the unarmed blacks killed by cops last year and almost fit them on one hand.
While Mayor Adams’ words are welcome, something bigger seems to be missing overall.
As a New Yorker, I am not getting the comforting sense from Adams that I got from Republican former Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani after just one month in office: That someone serious was in control, and things finally were starting to calm down.
If anything, matters are getting worse, with the overall crime rate still high and climbing, up 44 percent year-to-date!
Adams has wasted time promoting veganism, trapping 5-year-olds in masks, and running billboards in Florida urging people to move to New York because it’s OK to say, “gay” here — which remains legal in Florida. The new Parental Rights Law now requires teachers to wait until students reach fourth grade before commencing classroom discussions about sexual orientation — homosexual, heterosexual, bisexual, and beyond.
This seems like a modest limitation. What’s that phrase? Time and place!
Adams should rally crime victims and lead them on a march on Albany, to pressure far-Left Democrat state lawmakers to abandon their deadly experiment in no-cash bail.
And Adams should hammer Manhattan’s Soros-funded DA, Alvin Bragg, and push him to understand that his soft-on-crime policies have nothing to do with “equity.” They are all about letting criminals maim and kill New Yorkers. And they need to stop.
