More people are calling for the FBI to launch an investigation into the bombshell leak of a Supreme Court ruling suggesting the court is going to overturn Roe v. Wade.
Following the unprecedented leak of Supreme Court documents Fox News host, Laura Ingraham said that Chief Justice John Roberts should immediately open an investigation to uncover the identity of whoever leaked the opinion.
The Washington Examiner reports:
“It’s incumbent upon him to bring in every law clerk before him or the FBI. ‘Give me your phone. We want all your accounts. We’ve got to do our own — look at every device you’ve ever used and find out who did this,'” Ingraham said.
Ingraham also implied the leak involved a liberal clerk and that it was an attempt to affect the expected outcome.
Leaks like this are unheard of in the court’s modern history and have minimal precedent. Roberts is expected to order a full inquiry into the source leak involving the FBI on Tuesday, according to CBS News.
Some view the decision from the Supreme Court as a threat to individual rights. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) claimed that “SCOTUS isn’t just coming for abortion — they’re coming for the right to privacy Roe rests on, which includes gay marriage + civil rights.”
The court’s holding will not be final until it is published, likely in the next two months.
According to CBS, Justice Roberts is reportedly “likely” to order an investigation into the leak.
“Chief Justice Roberts is likely to order a full investigation involving the FBI into the reported leak of a draft majority opinion, reports @JanCBS — as some question if it will throw the Supreme Court’s legitimacy into question,” CBS Mornings tweeted early Tuesday.
