Despite a series of late campaign controversies, Trump’s endorsement carried Mary Miller ahead of moderate incumbent and five-term Representative Rodney Davis in the newly drawn, heavily red district in southern Illinois that pitted the two against each other.
Dave Wasserman first called the race for Miller after a surprise surge. The race was expected to be close and Davis started strong in the early results.

Miller is a member of the House Freedom Caucus and voted against certifying Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential election, according to Chicago Sun-Times.
Davis was not outright anti-Trump, but voted to certify the 2020 election results and to establish a commission to investigate the events at the Capitol on January 6th, though the bill he supported would fail in the Senate.
