Walt Nauta, an aide previously connected to former President Donald Trump, had his first court appearance rescheduled because of a canceled flight caused by severe weather. Nauta is presently being investigated by a special counsel for allegedly unlawfully keeping classified documents.

The judge responsible for Donald Trump’s case involving classified documents in Miami has scheduled a trial date for August 14.

The arraignment, which was rescheduled, is now set for July 6. Nauta’s legal representative is actively searching for local counsel to support him throughout the proceedings. The accusation against Nauta involves collaborating with Trump to hide boxes containing classified records that were not authorized to leave government custody. The indictment alleges that Nauta, supposedly acting on Trump’s orders, moved these boxes within Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. After his interview with the FBI, Nauta is accused of knowingly providing misleading information regarding his participation, suggesting a lack of agreement with the FBI’s accusations.

The investigation was initiated after classified records were found in boxes that were returned to the National Archives and Records Administration. Trump faces various charges, including illegally retaining national defense information and conspiring to obstruct justice. Nauta, on the other hand, faces charges related to conspiracy and making false statements.

Trump has pleaded not guilty and plans to file motions seeking dismissal based on alleged misconduct by the prosecution. The trial date in Florida is uncertain, and both Trump and Nauta are prohibited from communicating regarding the ongoing investigation. The court’s ruling will determine whether the list of potential witnesses will be made public or not.
