Big media outlets like CNN wanted to accuse any nontraditional media source of being “fake news”. In fact, President Trump flipped the script on the media, calling their dishonest reporting “fake news”. No president effectively neutralized hostile reporting so well, as the media attacks have cost entire elections in the past. Sharyl Attkisson gave a brilliant Ted Talk talking about Trump’s “Hostile Takeover” of the term, that changed the relationship presidents have with the media forever.
