Via our friend Liberty Laura, here’s Rand Paul discussing the complex decisions that have to be made when conservatives come together to repeal and replace Obamacare.
Paul points out, correctly, that maintaining coverage for pre-existing conditions while removing the mandate to purchase health insurance would disincentivize consumers from purchasing insurance until they actually got sick, putting insurance companies in a bind. He also points to the fact that Republicans are going to have to institute some budget discipline if they want to get anything meaningful accomplished.
We’re happy that Senator Paul, a doctor, is there to lend his expertise to the process. Americans need quality, affordable healthcare, not another big government boondoggle.
