President Trump’s favorite outlet The New York Times has made an effort to defend the rioting going on across the country. Writer Nikole Hannah-Jones made the argument that these items and these stores can be replaced but the classic line “lives cannot” is what ended her argument. These are clearly the words of someone who has never really had to work for anything in their life, when people build a business it is an extension of themselves, their business is the physical manifestation of years of hard work and when they go up in flames they have to watch their hard work get swept away. Of course, lives can not be replaced, but why must innocent bystanders be punished so cruelly?
