A lot of stories have been going around about masks and how they have sold out. Do these surgical masks actually help stop the spread of disease and the coronavirus specifically? The everyday masks you can pick up at the hardware store do little to block out these kinds of things because they are so small.
Many of the masks available in stores that people have been buying in a panic is meant to stop you from breathing in sawdust. The kind of masks that do stop these small viruses’ are N95 masks and they are hard to breathe in and uncomfortable, that said the WHO is not telling people they need these as of yet.
