Sweden Rejects Request for ‘TRUMP’ Vanity Plate

A man in Sweden made a request to have his vanity plate read “TRUMP.”

That request was denied on the basis that it was offensive.

According to The Hill:

Swedish authorities reportedly denied a request for a vanity license plate reading “Trump,” claiming it violated motor vehicle department rules against “offensive” phrases.

The Swedish Transport Agency confirmed the ruling to The Associated Press on Monday, telling the news service it doesn’t approve letter combinations that refer to politics.

The story was first reported by Sweden’s Aftonbladet tabloid, which said the request was made by a man who said he “was drunk and thought it was fun to apply” for the plate bearing the U.S. president’s name since his car is American, according to the AP.

The agency told the man, identified as Marcus Saaf, that the ruling couldn’t be appealed, the AP added.

The story also indicated that the District of Columbia, which is a liberal haven, has rejected 53 anti-Trump license plate requests.
