President Trump has announced that the cease-fire for Turkey in the Syrian region is permanent. This permanent has caused Trump to announce the lifting of the sanctions on Turkey.
The President did say that he will reimpose the sanctions if something happens that he doesn’t like.
According to CNBC:
President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that he is lifting U.S. sanctions on Turkey imposed after the country invaded northern Syria earlier this month, calling the country’s temporary cease-fire in the area “permanent.”
“The sanctions will be lifted unless something happens that we are not happy with,” Trump said at the White House.
He said that the brief cease-fire announced on Thursday will “indeed be permanent,” though he noted that “you will also define permanent in that part of the world as somewhat questionable.”
“Let someone else fight over this long blood-stained sand,” Trump said.
President Trump also took the opportunity to respond to the criticism of the move, which came from his own party as well. Trump stated that this move validates his administration’s course of action with Turkey.
