Trump Commutes Sentence of Rod Blagojevich, Pardons Former NYPD Commissioner Kerik

President Trump made two bold moves on Tuesday. The President commuted the prison sentence of former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich and pardoned former NYPD Commissioner Bernard Kerik.

According to CNBC:

President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he has commuted the prison sentence of former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

Trump also told reporters that he had pardoned former New York Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik.

“I just pardoned Bernie Kerik,” Trump said.

Blagojevich was in the middle of serving a 14-year sentence in Colorado federal prison. The Illinois Democrat was found guilty of attempting to trade the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Barack Obama for money or favors. 

Kerik oversaw the NYPD during 9/11 was convicted of tax fraud and lying to the government.
