President Trump mocked the departure of Pete Buttigieg from the presidential primary and highlighted what he believes is a larger plot by the Democrats.

According to The Daily Wire:

President Donald Trump responded to the news that Democrat presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg was dropping out of the race on Sunday by mocking Buttigieg’s failed campaign and saying that this was part of a larger plan by Democrats to block socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) from getting the nomination.

Tim Murtaugh, Director of Communications for the Trump campaign, responded to the news by writing on Twitter, “Apparently insufferable condescension just wasn’t what voters were looking for.”

On Saturday, after Democrat presidential candidate Tom Steyer dropped out of the race, Trump tweeted, “Democrats are working hard to destroy the name and reputation of Crazy Bernie Sanders, and take the nomination away from him!”

FiveThirtyEight statistician Nate Silver predicted that Buttigieg dropping out may increase the likelihood of a contested convention, writing on Twitter, “Buttigieg dropping out may actually increase the likelihood of a contested convention. He was polling at <15% almost everywhere on Super Tuesday, meaning he was tracking to get very few delegates, but his votes will help other candidates to get over 15% and get delegates.”

President Trump also sent out other tweets regarding South Carolina:
The presidential race saw Amy Klobuchar exit on Monday as well as the "moderate" wing of the party appears to be trying to consolidate support against the progressives and Bernie Sanders.
