Trump campaign spokesperson Kayleigh McEnany will become the next White House Press Secretary, according to the NY Times.
McEnany’s hiring comes on the heels of Stephanie Grisham stepping down to become First Lady Melania Trump’s Chief of Staff.
McEnany is a former CNN contributor and employee at Fox News. She is married to former Major League baseball pitcher Sean Gilmartin.
The report also states that Defense Department spokesperson Alyssa Farah will also join the White House communications team.
McEnany and Farah will be the two first high-profile hirings made by newly appointed Chief of Staff and former Congressman Mark Meadows. Both of whom we speculated would be considered as replacements for Grisham.
Farah used to work for Meadows in Congress before becoming a press aide to Vice President Mike Pence.
Previous Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham never held a White House press briefing during her tenure.
The emergence of McEnany and Farah in the White House communications shop signals that Meadows is serious about improving the White House’s visibility and relationships with the media. Both communicators are battle-tested and experienced spokeswomen on and off-camera.
