Trump Signs Trade Deal Keeping Critical Campaign Promise

President Trump signed phase one of the trade deal with China along with Chinese Vice Premier Liu He. The signing marks another critical campaign promise kept by President Trump.

Many have called this a major victory for the United States and President Trump. Trump has confirmed that phase two of the negotiations will begin almost immediately.

US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer led the negotiations for the United States and was joined by Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and economic adviser Larry Kudlow.

President Trump’s economic adviser Larry Kudlow has stated that an agreement of this magnitude with China has never happened before.

Senator Joni Ernst of Iowa claimed that this is the victory that American farmers have been looking for. Trump was criticized heavily for his trade war with China, but today appears to show that it paid off.

Senator Chuck Schumer has been critical of the deal despite the text of it not being released. Trump responded:

The second phase of the trade agreement will depend on the success of phase one. according to Kudlow.
