Everyone is looking for any indication if Pennsylvania’s 20 Electoral College votes will be awarded to President Trump or Democrat challenger Joe Biden. While mail-in ballots continue to pour in it’s unlikely that America will have a clear winner on November 3rd. However, these 20 swing counties may help predict which candidate will claim victory in the Keystone State.

Chester County: The county was once a Republican stronghold but in recent elections Democrats have been able to consistently win. In 2012, the county was won by Mitt Romney but then Clinton easily turned the county blue, beating Trump by about 10 points. Biden is hoping to build on Clinton’s gains and win this county.

Bucks County: This county is difficult to predict, in 2016 Trump lost the county by nearly one percent, and in 2012 Romney lost by similar margins. Though the county has typically voted blue GOP officials have said support for President Trump is high.

Luzerne County: The county was won twice by former President Obama but then swung to President Trump in 2016. Luzerne county saw the biggest swing towards the Republican candidate in all of Pennsylvania. Trump’s 26,000 vote lead over Clinton helped him win the state and he’s hoping to do it again.

Lackawanna County: Though Hillary Clinton narrowly won the county in 2016, Lackawanna saw the second-largest swing towards Trump in Pennsylvania. President Trump is hoping to gain on those margins. However, Democrats believe Biden will ultimately win the county because it’s home to his childhood home of Scranton.

Erie County: Another county that previously voted for President Obama then swung to Trump in 2016. Biden is fighting hard to swing the county to his favor.

York County: A Republican stronghold, in 2016 Trump handily won the county with a 60,000 vote margin. York is expected to vote red again this election.

Westmoreland County: While the county was once a Democrat stronghold the county has been trending towards Republicans for years now. Republican over registration has increased by over 10% since 2016 while Democrat voter registration has crashed.

Lancaster County: The county is another Republican stronghold, going to Romney in 2012 and then to President Trump in 2016. Trump won by nearly 50,000 votes in 2016 and the county’s population has been growing since then.

Philadelphia: A liberal stronghold, Clinton won Philadelphia by similar margins Obama did. Now, each candidate is attempting to win over Black voters. In interviews, Black men said while they are not overly excited by Biden they prefer the Democrat to President Trump.

Allegheny County: Home to Pittsburgh, Allegheny County is another liberal stronghold. Democrats are hoping Biden will be able to turn Pittsburgh suburbs which have historically supported Republicans blue.
