According to Nevada law, only the loser of the tally may request a ballot recount and the request must be filed within three business days of the final count. Unlike other battleground states, Nevada requires the campaign requesting the recount to make a down deposit to cover the recount’s estimated costs. If the recount changes the state’s election outcome the deposit will be returned. If the recount doesn’t change the election the deposit is used to cover operating expenses.
