Georgia Governor Brian Kemp is changing his tune and is again calling for a signature audit after new testimony raised additional questions into the state’s election results. Gov. Kemp is referring to a security footage video taken after media and poll watchers left State Farm Arena, the largest vote-counting center in the state, for the night. After the poll observers and the media leave election officials can be seen pulling out containers of what appear to be additional ballots that had been previously separated. These election officials then continued to count ballots for hours without supervision.

The “concerning” evidence came to light during a Georgia Senate Government Oversight Committee hearing, sparking the Governor to push harder for a signature audit. Ultimately, the signature audit must be ordered by the GA Secretary of State’s office and Brad Raffensperger has yet to do so. Republicans are hoping the unsettling video will provide enough urgency to prompt Raffensperger to order the audit. President Trump and his legal team have been fighting for the audit and signature matching in the Peach State since Election Day.

The Daily Wire reports:

“You know, I’ve called early on for a signature audit, obviously the secretary of state, per the laws and the Constitution would have to order that; he has not done that,” Kemp said. “I think it should be done. I think, especially with what we saw today, it raises more questions. There needs to be transparency on that. I would again call for that, and I think in the next 24 hours hopefully we’ll see a lot more from the hearings that the legislature had today and we’ll be able to look and see what the next steps are.”

While the video certainly uncovers suspicious behavior it does not necessarily point to the fact voter fraud occurred that night. According to Lead Stories fact-checkers, the separated ballots seen in the video had been removed from their envelopes, processed, then placed into standard ballots boxes while observers and the media were present. Also, Georgia law allows ballot observes but does not require their presence for ballots to be counted.

President Trump cheered the discovery on Twitter writing, “People in Georgia got caught cold bringing in massive numbers of ballots and putting them in “voting” machines. Great job @BrianKempGA!”

Georgia Senate candidates David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler are united in support for signature matching in the upcoming GA Senate runoff election. President Trump also tweeted out his support for signature checks to ensure legal ballots are counted and fraudulent ballots are thrown out saying the move will spur a rush in voters visiting polling stations.

Recently, Gov. Kemp’s response to voter fraud allegations has been the subject of intense scrutiny from President Trump and his team, even calling Kemp the “hapless” Governor of Georgia and saying he regretted endorsing the Republican. Gov. Kemp hasn’t let the remarks shake his loyalty to President Trump though, Gov. Kemp said he still supports his policies and will continue to fight alongside him.

“Look, I’m frustrated like [Trump] is, a lot of people are,” said Kemp, who added he still supports the president and his policies. “Like he said, he’s a fighter, we had a few battles but nobody worked harder for Donald Trump before Nov. 3 and I continued to help his efforts in the legal campaign and I will continue to do that.”
