In a video, President Trump addressed the nation and urged protestors to disperse and “go home” after violence erupted during the Save America March in Washington, D.C. erupted in violence. Protestors stormed the capitol while representatives held a joining session of Congress to vote to certify the Electoral College results for President-elect Joe Biden. The representatives were forced to evacuate the Capitol building and call an emergency recess.

In his message, President Trump referenced the November election and his continued claims of widespread voter fraud.
“I know your pain I know you’re hurt we had an election that was stolen from us. It was a landslide election everyone knows it especially the other side but you have to go home now, we have to have peace,” President Trump began his message.
Throughout his message, the President referenced the brave law enforcement officers on the ground keeping the peace saying they must be respected. Throughout the day President Trump has repeatedly referenced the police and called for protestors to respect and listen to their requests.

President Trump said, “We have to have law and order we have to respect our great people in law and order, we don’t want anybody hurt.”
Trump acknowledged that while emotions are at an all-time high protestors should act accordingly with local law enforcement and go home peacefully.
“It’s a very tough period of time, there’s never been a time like this where such a thing happened they could take it away from all of us, from me, from you, from all of our country. This was a fraudulent election but we can’t play into the hands of these people.” President Trump continued, “We have to have peace. So go home, we love you, you’re very special. You’ve seen what happens, you see the way others are treated that are so bad and so evil. I know how you feel, but go home and go home in peace.”
