Top Republican Mitch McConnell and President Trump’s professional relationship has been strained especially in the days following the violent riot at the Capitol. While McConnell and Trump may currently be at odds it’s doubtful the Majority Leader would ultimately vote to impeach the President. McConnell has also questioned the constitutionality behind holding a trial after Trump has left office. The Republican has repeatedly opposed impeachment saying the move will only further divide the country and cause tempers to rise.
