Hawley was the first GOP senator to announce his plan to object to some state’s electoral votes for Joe Biden. Like Cruz, many Democrats have been pushing for Hawley to resign from his office saying he helped incite the violent riot in the Capitol which left five dead. Hawley stood by his promise to oppose some state’s votes and is likely to stand by President Trump if and when the impeachment trial goes to the Senate.
