Killing jobs

The proposed COVID-19 legislation includes provisions that would raise the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour. The provision would ultimately cost 1.4 million American jobs with younger Americans and those without a college degree being the most affected. Democrats also plan to raise weekly unemployment benefits to $400, up from $300. The bill also creates a program that would cover up to 85% of a person’s COBRA premiums when they leave a job, even if they do so voluntarily.
