South Dakota ranked sixth in terms of the country’s most free states. Over the past year, the state saw its population jump especially in response to Governor Noem’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Unlike other states, South Dakota remained open which in turn put their economy in a far better position than most states which locked down for weeks on end. The Fraser Institute gave South Dakota a 7.28 out of 10 on its freedom scale.
