Promised to Reverse Remain-in-Mexico Policy
In early February, President Biden fulfilled his campaign promise to reverse the Trump-era “Remain-in-Mexico” policy which required those seeking to immigrate into the U.S. to stay across the border until their court date. Biden was warned that the reversal of the policy would encourage more immigrants to overwhelm the border. During Biden’s transition period in November acting Customs and Border Patrol Chief Mark Morgan warned, “If MPP is to go away it’ll be absolutely devastating.”
