Joni Ernst joined Republican Senators in calling for a deeper investigation into Kahl’s comments and mishandling of classified information. In the letter to Wray, the Republicans noted that Kahl’s previous letter attempting to clarify his past tweet still left out a number of concerning details. Republicans also cited additional tweets from Kahl later in 2017 in which they allege he appeared to confirm leaked classified information related to military options in North Korea and later indicated “multiple” officials within the Trump administration had confirmed the information to him.
