California Democrat Jimmy Gomez is renewing his unsuccessful attempt to expel pro-Trump Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene from Congress. Rep. Gomez is pushing to have Rep. Greene expelled over her reported support for an “America First Caucus.”

The Hill reports:

Greene has publicly derided reports that she planned to launch a new caucus, calling herself a proud member of the House Freedom Caucus. Still, her own communications aide, Nick Dyer, told Punchbowl News earlier this month: “Be on the look out for a public release for the America First Caucus platform when it’s released publicly very soon.”

Gomez’s previous attempts to expel Greene have seen little support from Democratic leadership, which favored stripping her of committee assignments instead.

“We’re gonna try to use that as a way to get more people,” he told Forbes of the resolution and the “America First Caucus.”

In order for the resolution to be successful, dozens of House Republicans would have to vote for the measure, making its passage unlikely. Just 11 Republicans voted to strip Greene of her assignments earlier this year.

Rep. Greene and other far-right lawmakers have reportedly discussed launching the so-called America First Caucus which would have served as an anti-immigration and pro-Trump group in the House.
