On Monday morning, former President Trump released a statement that the 2020 presidential election shall henceforth be dubbed “The Big Lie” and that comment sent GOP Congresswoman Liz Cheney off the deep end. Moments later, the Wyoming Republican slammed Trump’s comment saying anyone who agreed with Trump’s claim was “turning their back on the rule of law, and poisoning our democratic system.”

Rep. Cheney was among the House Republicans which voted to impeach former President Trump a second time in response to the Jan. 6th Capitol riot. Since then, Trump has pledged to support Republican primary challengers seeking to unseat the Republicans which voted for the impeachment.

Cheney has repeatedly made comments bashing former President Trump to the media recently, including saying Mitch McConnell and Kevin McCarthy are the true leaders of the Republican Party-not Trump. During the GOP House retreat in Florida, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said that Cheney’s recent comments are “unproductive” for the party.

The Wyoming Republican also raised eyebrows over teasing a potential presidential run in 2024 and saying she would definitely not support Trump if he were to win the Republican Party’s nomination once again.

Trump released a statement on Cheney’s potential presidential run noting her popularity amongst Republicans has sunk considerably since the second impeachment.

Trump wrote, “Liz Cheney is polling sooo low in Wyoming, and has sooo little support, even from the Wyoming Republican Party, that she is looking for a way out of her Congressional race. Based on all polling, there is no way she can win. She’ll either be yet another lobbyist or maybe embarrass her family by running for President, in order to save face. This warmongering fool wants to stay in the Middle East and Afghanistan for another 19 years, but doesn’t consider the big picture—Russia and China!”
