Kristi Noem
South Dakota’s Kristi Noem chose to keep her state open throughout Covid and despite the barrage of criticism from the left the state reported some of the fewest Covid deaths over the past year according to reports by the CDC.
Governor Noem credited her Covid response to preparing early by talking with experts but also consulting with constitutional experts to be sure she did not overextend her power as governor. Noem ultimately decided to keep schools and businesses open to let constituents decide for themselves which contributed to the state having one of the lowest unemployment levels at the height of the pandemic.
Noem is also now being considered as another contender to launch a presidential campaign in 2024.
