Tuesday night the New York City Election Board announced it had discovered a “discrepancy” in its unofficial vote tabulation during the Democrat mayoral primary.
The Hill reports:
A preliminary report of ranked-choice voting results released Tuesday afternoon had shown that the race between Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, the ostensible frontrunner, and his two closest rivals, Kathryn Garcia and Maya Wiley, had tightened significantly since last week’s primary.
The Board issued a statement late Tuesday night saying that it had neglected to remove sample ballot images used to test its ranked-choice voting software from its election management system. In turn, when the Board began going through the results, the program “counted both test and election night results, producing approximately 135,000 additional records.”
While the Board said that it has since removed the sample ballot images from the system and would re-tabulate the vote, the botched election results reporting has turbocharged criticism of the Board, which has long faced allegations of incompetence and dysfunction.
“This error by the Board of Elections is not just failure to count votes properly today, it is the result of generations of failures that have gone unaddressed,” Wiley said in a statement. “Sadly it is impossible to be surprised.”
Trump released a statement through his Save America PAC slamming the election board.
“Just like in the 2020 Presidential Election, it was announced overnight in New York City that vast irregularities and mistakes were made and that Eric Adams, despite an almost insurmountable lead, may not win the race. The fact is, based on what has happened, nobody will ever know who really won. The Presidential Race was a Scam and a Hoax with numbers and results being found that are massive, shocking, and determinative. Watch the mess you are about to see in New York City, it will go on forever. They should close the books and do it all over again, the old-fashioned way, when we had results that were accurate and meaningful.”
House Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik also noted the news on Twitter.

Democrats are crooked! So what’s new? How about summary execution on the streets of New York City. Democrats don’t seem to mind the crime and murder in their city; so why not let them benefit from the action?

All confidence in our elections has disintegrated under the weight of the 2020 election and it’s irregularities. These new findings are just increasing the loss of confidence.
You are very right about that and it is probably why so many states are putting more safeguards in place to make elections less susceptible to fraud. The extremely strange results of this last election have already caused people to lose faith in our elections. It has also increased awareness of shady activities and shady methods used by people who want to win at any cost, regardless of what the voting citizens want. Good post, Suzie.
It’s hard to believe that anything bad that is done by the Democrats, could be by mistake. It is more likely that it was done on purpose. Only if it causes an uproar will it be addressed, and that’s when they claim it to be an innocent error. If we can learn anything from experience, it is that elected Democrats will do anything possible, even if it is illegal (or maybe ESPECIALLY if it is illegal), if it gives them any perceived advantage in power or publicity.
One can only hope that the election irregularities are cleaned up post-haste and that accurate information only is processed!
