Malta 

Malta is not the first country anyone thinks of when they think of potential targets for Putin and Russia, but it very well could be his best option. Malta is largely considered a tax haven for Europeans and the country is home to many budding online industries, its location being just south of Italy gives Russia all the more reason to want this small island nation. If we were to see Russia move on Malta, it would be more political than what we are seeing now.
