Republican North Carolina Representative Madison Cawthorn was charged this month for driving with a revoked license.

The Daily Wire reports:

According to a report from the Ashville Citizen Times, the 26-year-old congressman was pulled over in Cleveland County, North Carolina, mid-morning on March 3, after his 2019 Toyota Truck crossed the center line.

Trooper Tyler Gantt cited the representative for driving with a revoked license. Cawthorn “was very polite and cooperative,” the trooper noted in his citation.

“The driver was identified as David Madison Cawthorn, 26 years old of Hendersonville, N.C.,” said Highway Patrol spokesperson Sgt. Marcus Bethea, adding, “During the course of the investigation it was determined that the driver’s license was in a state of revocation and he was subsequently charged with driving while license revoked.”

“Cawthorn uses a wheelchair after being seriously injured in a 2014 car accident in Florida,” Citizen Times noted. “A friend who was driving fell asleep while Cawthorn slept in the passenger seat, according to his 2019 federal court filing against the insurance company.”

The GOP Rep. could face up to 20 days in jail over the misdemeanor.

Cawthorn has recently faced efforts by some North Carolinians trying to prevent him from seeking a second term in Congress over his participation in a pro-Trump rally prior to protestors storming the Capitol in 2020.
