Piers Morgan’s “fiery” interview with Donald Trump is apparently more lackluster than a recent promotional video leads viewers to believe. The 30-second ad, shared by Morgan himself, strongly suggests Trump walked out of the room after being confronted about his 2020 election fraud claims, however audio obtained by The Washington Examiner reveals the interview actually ended quite amicably.
The Washington Examiner reports:
The discussion was stretching past the one-hour mark, and Morgan kept pressing Trump on a variety of topics despite Morgan saying he was wrapping up his questions and being reminded of it as he continued on anyway.
Although the promo indicates Trump gets frustrated with questions and calls Morgan “very dishonest,” that comment is in reference to the English broadcaster dragging out the interview, and still, Morgan gets in another question on Trump scoring a hole-in-one last month. Trump claims he has had seven hole-in-ones in total, which he says “isn’t that high a number” compared to others who play golf.
The audio comes to an end with Trump and Morgan exchanging pleasantries: Morgan says “congratulations,” Trump thanks him, and Morgan calls it a “great interview.” Trump seems to agree, answering “yeah.” It is during the shuffling that follows, when Trump gets up out of his chair, that Trump says to “turn the camera off” as is shown in the promo.
Trump retaliated to the misleading promo being shared with a scathing statement from his Save America PAC
“Piers Morgan, like the rest of the Fake News Media, attempted to unlawfully and deceptively edit his long and tedious interview with me. He wanted to make it look like I walked out on the interview when my time limit of 20 minutes went over by an hour,” Trump said.
“The good news is that the interview was taped by us as a means of keeping him honest,” Trump added before insisting there is evidence of widespread fraud in the 2020 election. “For those who want to make Piers look bad, compare his video promo and how it was doctored to the real thing. Hopefully they will now be doing some big changes to their final product. It just shows, however, what I have to deal with in the Fake News Media. He went out of his way to deceptively edit an interview and got caught. That is a big story, isn’t it?” he concluded.
However, Morgan wasn’t done stirring the pot and replied to the former president’s message on Twitter.
Morning, Mr President!
It was a great interview, thanks for all your time.
Sorry you got so annoyed that I don’t believe the 2020 election was rigged or stolen from you, but as I said, where’s your proof? If you have it, show us – or accept the result and move on. pic.twitter.com/QD4ONenhfZ— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) April 21, 2022

Other topics they covered in the final minutes of the interview at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida included transgender athletes, Trump’s record, and the 2024 election. At one point, Morgan said Trump made it clear in the interview that he is running again in 2024, to which Trump shot back, “I don’t think I’ve made it clear.” Trump then repeated his line that people are going to be “very happy.”
