CNN Boss Pushes Network to Return to Journalism As Ratings Nosedive

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO, the company which owns CNN, David Zaslav wants the network to return to direct journalism.

The Washington Examiner reports:

“Journalism first. America needs a news network where everybody can come and be heard; Republicans, Democrats,” Zaslav said.

“I think you’re seeing more of that at CNN. We’re not going to look at the ratings, and, in the long run, it’s going to be worth more.”

Zaslav says that incoming CNN CEO Chris Licht signals a key turning point for the network. Licht has already directed CNN to stop using its “breaking news” banner for every story and to move away from opinion-based reporting.

However, Zaslav says that it will take time for ratings to rebound for the “new” CNN.

“The problem is we are not a neutral country,” according to the source cited as “well-placed” in the report. “The ratings are getting worse because they are taking out all the bells and whistles. CNN’s ratings are as bad as local news ratings.”

“New management is not freaking out, but everyone else at CNN is. They want to fix the shows first, but they don’t realize the shows and ratings are connected.”

Americans aren’t stupid. They want the truth in news. That is what journalism is. People can see when it is not being presented. The current biased talent cannot legitimately make this change. Only new people can make this change. It will require an overhaul to make it happen.

I hope you’re right, but I suspect that a very large segment of our voting population is very uninformed, propagandized to the Left, and just plain ignorant in their lack of education and awareness. The mainstream media has assisted in the destruction of our nations underpinning.

When you are tagged as a liar, you never will gain trust. How do you prove what you report is not a lie.
If a car sales person lies to you, will you ever do business again? Unless, you are brain dead.
Propaganda and wedded to a political party is also a negative hard to overcome.

Asking CNN to “return to journalism” is like asking arsenic to return to being ice cream. How about asking CNN to START practicing journalism? Yes, it would be extremely difficult and out of character, but at least it would be possible.

I don’t know. Once you put lipstick on a pig it’s hard to get off… Good luck though. I remember when CNN WAS a real news show.. Long time ago…

If you believe that Certainly Not Newsworthy is going to “return to journalism”, then you are as gullible as the lying lame stream media propaganda outlets (LLSMPO – more complete, but less graphic than “LSD media” – you know, those on power trips).
